Our Dream House or…

The Black Wall Blog FLASH FICTION CHALLENGE #2

Word post I chose at bottom (No peaking, please) :p

 

It sat,   way up,  the hill

That house, we loved.

It looked, so peaceful, so homey

Surrounded by, VIBRANT colored,

Flower gardens,

Slate walkways

All nestled,  among EVERGREENS,  so tall

WHITE Birch, circled by LUSH bushes

A dream, come true

We signed, the papers

Friends gathered

We raised our glasses

to CELEBRATE!

We packed, moved in

GOD BLESS  OUR HOME.

 

 

That night, AFTER dark

They arrived, DARK clouds

Winds WHIPPED, it POURED

Air CRACKLED, lightening FLASHED

Thunder SHOOK, our home.

It happened

Total DARKNESS, Power OUTAGE

Candles FOUND,

Match STRUCK

FLAME GLOWED.

We watched our trees,

They SWAYED, then BENT

Then SWAYED, some more,

Windows RATTLED, shutters BANGED

Books FELL.

And then

We HEARD, a noise

Stairs CREAKED

He whispered, “WHAT’S THAT?”,

“Shhhhhhhhh QUIET!”,  I HISSED!

We FELT, a presence

We SAW, the shadow

A GLIMPSE, of steel

An AXE, blood covered!

I  SCREAMED!

I SHOOK, he said,

“WAKE UP!   It’s MORNING! ”

LOOKED around,

The SUN, SHONE brightly.
