Your Balls Are About Useless 2.9.2019

head in the clouds with copyright

Now, first of all, GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER!   😉

I like to try different products. Particularly things that might be friendlier to the environment and I like to be frugal.

Example: I have a reusable mesh coffee filter instead of continuously buying the “one use only”,  paper coffee filters. Win! Win for frugal and obviously decreases the amount of garbage I produce etc…

Static cling is a pain!  Unfortunately, I am allergic to scented dryer sheets and generally buy the hypo allergenic kind.

Two weeks ago, doing my regular monthly online Walmart shopping, I stumbled upon a product that I had heard of  but had not tried – “Dryer balls”. This particular brand was rubber, not my favorite option, but the price was right, so I decided what the heck.

dryer balls 2.9.19

The first drying experience was okay. A bit of static but didn’t seem to be quite as much. Since then, I am up to 3 balls in my dryer. There is still static cling, perhaps not as bad as usual.  I am not sure if it is the weather or the balls. Obviously, I am not happy with the results.

YES! I am going to attempt to buy another kind. After all, it’s not a true experiment if one doesn’t follow through and execute a variety of variables.

On a scale of 1-10, ten being A++ and one being F-, I give these a 2.

Has anyone else had success with trying this type of balls?

Please, let me know.

BTW-

NOO!  I could not write this quick little post with a straight face…  😉

Happy chuckling Saturday!

My Favorite Free Photo Editing App and more 2.7.2019 (A 40 second read)

as the rooster crows 02032019 sunrise

Happy Thursday!

A quick shout out to my son.

Happy Birthday!!

I cannot  believe it’s been 32 years since the first time I held you in my arms.

D, I hope you have a fantastic day!!

Love,

Mom ❤

First of all I cannot take credit for the discovery of these  two gems. That pat on the back, goes to BGage, The  Black wall blog’s photographer!

Most of us love to take pics. I am not fond of pictures that are played with to the point, they no longer look real. Simple lighting and the option to go Black and White or make my blue just a touch bluer is all I need.  The best part? THEY ARE FREE!

SnapSeed – A Photo and Video app. I truly enjoy the photo options with this free app. I noticed the crop restriction is a lot more rigid than my Iphone photo app, so I generally have my photo cropped prior to opening it in Snapseed.  You can modify your clicks a variety of ways. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Adobe Lightroom CC – I only use this application to add the copyright to the bottom of my photos. It has the option to purchase more high end modifications features, I chose not to. I will sometimes hit the auto enhance just to see what it does.  THE BEST part of this app is when you share your picture, it automatically adds a copyright to it. You have control over the size, font style etc.  Look under settings/sharing options.

Normally, I just share it to myself in messenger and then download it. Let me know if you have tried it and what tricks you use.

Both of the apps that I mention are all that was used for the photography in our “Where the Cows Still Play”, Coffee Table book we published. Please, check it out on Amazon when you have a chance. It makes an excellent gift!

Kind Regards and #winning – K

note: I was not paid for mentioning or writing this blog post on these two apps. They are just a couple of fun apps I wanted to share. 🙂

2.1.2019 The Friendliest neighborhood Diner in Troutman, NC

Thursday, I picked up my Massachusetts BFF from the Charlotte Airport. Laughter and giggles flourished as we headed North on I-77 to exit 45 to Troutman, NC.

My daughter had suggested a place to eat. I typed the address in my GPS, and we headed. The place was known as Randy’s Bar B Q on 103 North Main St, Troutman, NC!

Time warp! The first thing you notice when you walk in, is the clean, friendly atmosphere. Comfortable booths, a long counter and what looked like a regular restaurant area on the other side. I was intrigued by all the Coca Cola collectables mixed with the 1950’s diner décor.  Immediately, the feeling of “home” washed over you. It was as though, you were revisiting a favorited, familiar place.

The personable, attentive staff didn’t hover, yet noticed the smallest detail. You could tell they cared.

Example: I was fiddling with my I-phone, the charge was down to 20 percent. One of the gals, (not our waitress), walked to our booth and asked if I she could charge it behind the counter. Heck! YES!

Smiling customers that were obviously regulars, were called by their first names.

Sitting there we were surrounded by good natured and congenial banter.

I took a few clicks, the waitress laughed and said, “If you keep taking pictures, I may have to charge you.”

I ordered the BBQ pork, Hush puppies and coleslaw along with a Coke.  Each table had Coco cola salt and pepper shakers, a glass container filled with delectable tasting Bar-B-Q sauce. This way, YOU controlled how much was put onto your meal.

I took my first bite! My meal was DELICIOUS!! The generous servings will assure you will not walk away hungry! The variety of items available assure you can satisfy almost any craving. All at a reasonable price!

As my BFF and I sat there, giggled and chatted, jovial customers, stopped in. It was obvious some were just there for coffee or a quick bite and to interact. Some different than sitting at a regular restaurant where everyone has their nose buried in an electronic device.

Positivity oozed from every corner of the place.

The owner walked by and said,” Thank you for coming.”  His delivery flowed with our conversation and was in no way an interruption.

I give Randy’s Bar B Q an A++ on food, service and friendliness.

My plan? I will DEFINITELY return AND soon!

As we were readying to leave, our waitress asked if we wanted a free refill on our drinks to go! Less than 2 minutes later I had a refilled coke with a lid.

If you are in the Troutman area, make sure this gem is scheduled into your dining itinerary!
