After the Rooster Crows 2.6.2019

Good morning.

Happy Wednesday!

According to Siri, my I-phone, Troutman, NC should have a temperature

Around 70 degrees today! yahoo!

Do you have a morning routine?

I do.

Start the coffee, walk the dogs, feed the fur children, Marbre’, my cat, then my beloved canines, Chief and Abby.

Pour a cup of coffee.

Pop open the computer, a fresh word doc and type or grab a pen, my journal and write.

There is something about putting pen to paper, I find calming and soothing.

Early Morning Journaling

My scrawled words

Enrich the paper

Wtih sentiments, thoughts and wishes.

From dreams, to logging life’s events.

Whether fond memories, frustration or woes.

Releasing all upon a blank sheet,

Creates an inner harmony

 No other early morning

 Activity can beat.

Writing or typing allows me

An opportunity to

 Makes sense of some,

Chuckle at others,

Or allows me, to set free

Any negativity from yesterday.

A clean slate,

Enables my heart,

My soul, my mind

To open, be trusting,

And accept

All the possiblities,

And potential,

Of a fresh, new day!

I am thinking of creating a journal with a large variety of life’s pictures, from a group of friends photos scattered throughout. The clicks can be used for writing exercises or for the viewing pleasure of the person who still journals. What do you think?

Kind Regards and #winning – K

Excellent news!!  On January 31st, my best friend is coming from Massachusetts to visit! Woohoo!  It will be a welcome relief for her to get away from the extreme cold. For me? Fantastic to have a friend for exploration!

L, who is coming to visit,  prompted the dedication quote in my next book!

are often discovered by

 unsolicited action and support.

Once found, forever carried within the heart.” – Kallie Knight

“WEATHER” OR  NOT WE ARE HAVING FUN…. HAHAHA!

after the storm 31.29.2019

In the northern part of the east coast,  in the last two weeks, they have experienced 12-14 plus inches of snow a few times, and quick thaws causing icy roads, walkways along with some flash flooding.  They are enduring an ongoing windchill factor that drops the temperature well below zero. New Hampshire and Vermont as well as other parts of the country are experiencing EXTREME Winter!

When one thinks of North Carolina, generally, the mind envisions hot sunny, humid days. Surprise! They DO have winter!

This morning, as I walked the dogs, there was a crisp, crackle to the grass comparable to the sound of the crinkle-crunch of when my cat attempts to sneak into a freshly opened bag of potato chips.

Temperature?  Twenty-four degrees!

When I first arrived to North Carolina, it was barely 48 hours following an all time record breaking snowfall. As the last six-ish weeks have flown by, I have experienced, rain,  frozen water droplets hanging from the branches, while the ground remained wet but too warm to freeze.

In the last 2 weeks there have been school delays due to icy roads. Sounds like Wintry weather to me!

The temperature ranges from 63-38 degrees during the day, then drops to the 20-30s at night. Mother Nature seems to enjoy the element of surprise as this transpires in no particular order and without warning.

One day I will be a bit hot in my hoodie, the next I have my purple scarf wrapped about my neck as I add a winter coat to take the dogs outside into the brisk air! Three hours later I may be in a hoodie again, with blue skies, sunshine and what I deem to be the perfect not too hot, not too cold temperature.

I have felt blessed, weather-wise, to witness this time of year in Statesville and Troutman, NC!

Well I am off to do more unpacking in hopes of having some sort of order when L arrives!!

❤

Have a wicked awesome Wednesday!!

Yesterday, I awoke, to gray skies but by the afternoon, it was blue skies and upper fifties! All that vitamin D lifts my mind, body and soul.

Today, I awoke to a heavy chest. I opened my eyes and stared straight into Marbre’ Mitten’s eyes. Sure enough, my beloved, chill cat, had laid herself across my chest. She positioned herself perfectly so that our faces were less than an inch apart.  Playing on the meow radio, was her sweet, peaceful purring song.

Chief, Abby and I had our usual 2:30 a.m. trek. Opening the front door, we discovered the beginning of little sprinkles.  A gentle rain as opposed to the torrential downpour Friday. That caused flooding in a few areas closer to the coast.

Chief doesn’t mind, though we all know he prefers snow. It’s poor little Abby. As a Yorkie-poo, much closer to the ground, Chief often leads her into puddles that soak her belly.  She’s a trooper. She just wades on through. Perhaps she needs some colorful boots? (Moments like this, I would love to be a cartoonist with the ability to sketch that visual!)

We walked a few feet west and I noticed, what looked like a baby skunk crossing the road to the grassy hill on the other side. It didn’t quite waddle like a skunk. I was almost sure I saw black and white stripes but… Then I noticed there was a larger one of the same species, already in the grass. The bigger one seemed to have more of a white fur base. Peering through the lights of the street lamps, their movement was different than a skunk. Their shape and the gleaming eyes reminded me of possum? I really don’t know.  Research time! (Input welcomed!)

Checked with my daughter she is saying possum. Sounds like it was a great idea I turned around. They seem to be a bit aggressive towards canines. Eeek!

Happy Monday all!!

Daily and Family Traditions

large2

Good morning!

They” say breakfast is the most important meal of day.

I add, start your day with a ritual that allows you a positive mindset.

My daily ritual:

Each morning, I awake, flipping open the covers as I exclaim to the dogs

“Time to make the doughnuts!” – they understand,  time

to get up, go out, pee, then their REWARD- A TREAT!

Happy tails.  🙂

Next, I make coffee, grab my pen, flip to a fresh page in my journal.

First, I write the current date, then add  +$49,000, +$477,111 plus at the very top of the page.

(A little something, I learned, listening to “The secret”.)

Next I scrawl, “May health, wealth, inner peace, self-assuredness,  love, friendship, companionship, happiness, security, comfort, contentment,  along with abundance and success embrace me and those I love, like a warm hug.”

IMG_0619

Next- Written next  is the single word “EXCELLENT!”

No matter what mood I am in when I first open my eyes, that is how I start the day.

I scribble:

A brief overview via bits and pieces of what happened yesterday, what I accomplished,  what may have caused stress to release it….. ta ta!

My day has officially begun!

Today is a bit different, my youngest granddaughter and I had a slumber party last night,

This allowed mommy and daddy to have a date night.

It’s little girl hugs, (cannot get enough) coffee, making a bowl of lucky charms and  heading out to the front porch with my daughters lap top.

Fresh air,  peepers singing  in the background and the glow of the laptop screen.

As soon as my  daughter comes downstairs a competition is planned.

Breakfast BOGGLE! To date, I am the champ. My brain is fresh this time of day.

Will I hang onto my title? Let the game begin!!

Boggle has been a part of  my life since I was young, I in turn taught it to my children.

No one has any idea how many hours we joyously, with pencils and paper ready- have flipped that little box of random letters over, started the timer and frantically scribbled every word we could find.  Laughter, silliness, giggles, a family at play.

No cell phones, no tv – just human interaction. Good  ol’ fashioned fun! Bonding.

This is how we make memories.

In a few hours, Ill be back on a plane to NH. (tearful  good byes, yet so blessed we had the time together.)

FAMILY. TRADITIONS. COMING TOGETHER AT THE SAME TIME.

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!
