Nightmare within a Nightmare 3.2019

A freshly baked tingling, numb turnover

Filled with pudding-like loneliness

Drizzled with sadness

Placed in the center of the breakfast plate,

and served with a side of cold truth coffee.

I realize my physician is trying to help. If it hadn’t been for the fact my psychiatrist at home had suggested the drug, I would not have tried it.

Saturday, I drove the 12 miles to Walmart. (Yahoo me), and picked up my scripts. Included was the new one, $200 dollar for the generic version of Abilify.

Six hours from taking 1/4 of a pill, 5 mgs, I became very angry at the dogs as we were out in the field. A little voice in my head, thought, this is odd. Why am I mad at the dogs? Once we got into the house, the dogs had their treats and I settled to watch a movie, a dreadful feeling of loss, hopelessness and sadness hit my gut. I started to sob. I reached for tissue to capture the giant tears that rolled down my face.

Taking a few deep breaths, I thought, what the hell?

I grabbed a glass of water, inhaled and exhaled some deep cleansing breaths, then napped off and on for the next 12 hours. I was sooo tired. That was Saturday.

Sunday, I awoke, and took another 5 mgs. it wasnt long and I grew very sleepy, I hadn’t been up very long. Barely, long enough to shower and have some breakfast, take the dogs out and back to sleep I went. I awoke in a fog. Took the dogs out, felt the anger like rage pop up again. WTH? Something was wrong. Why was I so enraged? The dogs and I worked our way to the house, feeling exhausted I plunked my butt on the couch and researched, withdrawal symptoms and then Abilify.

Dang! it was the Abilify! A known side effect that was not put as a warning on any literature. Some of the stories I read and the study findings I discovered gave me goosebumps. Then, the sobbing started…

>>>>>>>>>

Another bump in the road. I will get through this one too. No more Abilify. As a matter of fact, no more “so called” helpful drug(s) until I am through the detoxing. I want to try the natural way. Good food and exercise. I have 2 mg of lorazepam to go.

Wish me luck.

Kind Regards and determined to win – K

2.1.2019 The Friendliest neighborhood Diner in Troutman, NC

randys barbq 4 1.31.2019

Thursday, I picked up my Massachusetts BFF from the Charlotte Airport. Laughter and giggles flourished as we headed North on I-77 to exit 45 to Troutman, NC.

My daughter had suggested a place to eat. I typed the address in my GPS, and we headed. The place was known as Randy’s Bar B Q on 103 North Main St, Troutman, NC!

Time warp! The first thing you notice when you walk in, is the clean, friendly atmosphere. Comfortable booths, a long counter and what looked like a regular restaurant area on the other side. I was intrigued by all the Coca Cola collectables mixed with the 1950’s diner décor.  Immediately, the feeling of “home” washed over you. It was as though, you were revisiting a favorited, familiar place.

randys barbq 5 1.31.2019

The personable, attentive staff didn’t hover, yet noticed the smallest detail. You could tell they cared.

Example: I was fiddling with my I-phone, the charge was down to 20 percent. One of the gals, (not our waitress), walked to our booth and asked if I she could charge it behind the counter. Heck! YES!

Smiling customers that were obviously regulars, were called by their first names.

Sitting there we were surrounded by good natured and congenial banter.

I took a few clicks, the waitress laughed and said, “If you keep taking pictures, I may have to charge you.”

I ordered the BBQ pork, Hush puppies and coleslaw along with a Coke.  Each table had Coco cola salt and pepper shakers, a glass container filled with delectable tasting Bar-B-Q sauce. This way, YOU controlled how much was put onto your meal.

I took my first bite! My meal was DELICIOUS!! The generous servings will assure you will not walk away hungry! The variety of items available assure you can satisfy almost any craving. All at a reasonable price!

As my BFF and I sat there, giggled and chatted, jovial customers, stopped in. It was obvious some were just there for coffee or a quick bite and to interact. Some different than sitting at a regular restaurant where everyone has their nose buried in an electronic device.

Positivity oozed from every corner of the place.

The owner walked by and said,” Thank you for coming.”  His delivery flowed with our conversation and was in no way an interruption.

I give Randy’s Bar B Q an A++ on food, service and friendliness.

My plan? I will DEFINITELY return AND soon!

As we were readying to leave, our waitress asked if we wanted a free refill on our drinks to go! Less than 2 minutes later I had a refilled coke with a lid.

If you are in the Troutman area, make sure this gem is scheduled into your dining itinerary!

Excellent news!!  On January 31st, my best friend is coming from Massachusetts to visit! Woohoo!  It will be a welcome relief for her to get away from the extreme cold. For me? Fantastic to have a friend for exploration!

L, who is coming to visit,  prompted the dedication quote in my next book!

“WEATHER” OR  NOT WE ARE HAVING FUN…. HAHAHA!

after the storm 31.29.2019

In the northern part of the east coast,  in the last two weeks, they have experienced 12-14 plus inches of snow a few times, and quick thaws causing icy roads, walkways along with some flash flooding.  They are enduring an ongoing windchill factor that drops the temperature well below zero. New Hampshire and Vermont as well as other parts of the country are experiencing EXTREME Winter!

img_9436

When one thinks of North Carolina, generally, the mind envisions hot sunny, humid days. Surprise! They DO have winter!

This morning, as I walked the dogs, there was a crisp, crackle to the grass comparable to the sound of the crinkle-crunch of when my cat attempts to sneak into a freshly opened bag of potato chips.

Temperature?  Twenty-four degrees!

When I first arrived to North Carolina, it was barely 48 hours following an all time record breaking snowfall. As the last six-ish weeks have flown by, I have experienced, rain,  frozen water droplets hanging from the branches, while the ground remained wet but too warm to freeze.

In the last 2 weeks there have been school delays due to icy roads. Sounds like Wintry weather to me!

The temperature ranges from 63-38 degrees during the day, then drops to the 20-30s at night. Mother Nature seems to enjoy the element of surprise as this transpires in no particular order and without warning.

One day I will be a bit hot in my hoodie, the next I have my purple scarf wrapped about my neck as I add a winter coat to take the dogs outside into the brisk air! Three hours later I may be in a hoodie again, with blue skies, sunshine and what I deem to be the perfect not too hot, not too cold temperature.

I have felt blessed, weather-wise, to witness this time of year in Statesville and Troutman, NC!

Well I am off to do more unpacking in hopes of having some sort of order when L arrives!!

❤

Have a wicked awesome Wednesday!!

Kind Regards  and #winning- K

1.29.19 AHHH WIFI AND LIFE! (2 min read)

febuary girls t-shirt

HELLO EVERYONE!

Finally, I am back!

So much has happened, I will attempt to give you the Reader’s Digest version:

First of all I would like to say, I have missed every single one of you. Sounds crazy, but I love being a part of the blogging family!  Sending out warm wishes and K hugs all around!!  🙂

I am finally  moved into my new apartment! Thank you very much to my daughter, her new hubby and brothers! Happy dance going on here!!

Back in the country again! Yes! Troutman, NC is a little bit country.

When I walk the dogs early in the morning, I can hear the cows mooing down the street!

Abby and Chief, feel quite at home! Lot’s of grass, space and a whole lot of new smells. What more could a beloved fur child ask for?

chief and abby exploring at their new house

These last few days have been  frustrating, eye-opening and a celebratory time.

Celebration: Moved and a whole bedroom of boxes to explore! Wifi is back! We feel extremely at home in our new place. One neighbor even brought me some of his specialty chicken as a welcome to the neighborhood! Too cool!

My grandaughter started a new Christian private school yesterday! A glorious opportunity for her to receive a wonderful education!

Eye opening:  I have a new primary physician! He was very intelligent and I loved the overall feel of the office. They called me “Miss K”.

I got my overdue eye exam done. New glasses on the way!

One downside, I have the beginning stages of cataracts! A bit of a scare for me.  Macular degeneration is hereditary, and when my grandmother, soon after retirement had one of hers removed, she lost her sight in that eye. With an inoperable cataract in the other eye eventually she became legally blind. Something, I have had a subconscious fear of for over twenty years.

Frustration: I have one daily medication that I take, that I am having a difficult time finding a doctor to prescribe. It is not controlled in North Carolina as it was up North. The frustrating aspect- I have to somehow prove I am not a drug addict! Guilty until you prove yourself innocent. To prove one’s innocence you have to get an appointment.  That is the challenge! No one will let me in the door so that I can do so. I will NOT give up, I cant! But definitely a PIA!!

#Winning: I AM HERE!

I am getting settled!

My dreams are coming true.

#Winning 1.17.2019

New in town and still learning my way around as I Prep for a very special
Wedding.

YES!! My daughter is getting married this Sunday!

I know that it is in my best interest to assure the “Bride to be” is pleased, with the “Mother of the bride’s outfit”!!

Yesterday, I tried on a variety of outfits, took photos and sent them to my daughter.

Fifteen plus clicks and at least 8 outfits later, we had it narrowed down to black dress slacks, knee length, Olive green sweater, that I can wear with my black ankle boots or a lovely, calf length black dress.

YES! Black, NO LONGER TABOO, can be a very classy look at weddings.   I tried pairing mine with a variety of colored lightweight, waist length, long sleeved, cardigans and colorful scarves.

This event is casual, so I need to be careful not to overdress!

I am no Fashionista, but love that by simply changing your scarf, one can change the overall look and feel of an outfit.

This one, I captioned: “Stephen Tyler” wants his scarf back. 😊

In the middle of the clicks I sent this one to daughter, how could I resist? tee hee!

One hurdle to go!

Now, to find a place to get my hair done.

Remember, I am the “new kid” in town, so I asked some of the cashiers at the local Food Lion, grocery store in Statesville.  SUPER, excited for the wedding, they were eager to help.  Off I went with groceries in hand and a couple of salon options. Fingers crossed I pick the right one!

Stay tuned for pics!
