It just keeps a coming! 11.18.18

As I continue my quest to ready myself for the move from NH to NC.

šŸŽˆ

Who knew?

Between my parent’s stuff and my children’s stuff from birth through school days into adulthood!

Add years of all my crafts, sewing, woodworking along with miniatures in the 1/12th scale!

Sorting and sorting from nooks, crannies, totes, closets and file cabinets. All tucked away in the garage, storage and closets!

Am I a hoarder or a sentimental Ol’ fool?

Bring on more Kleenex, I’m diving in again!

Kind Regards and reminiscing- K

    1. Yes! I didnā€™t realize, being the last of the children left, all I had inherited. Great grandma pictures. My momā€™s doll from 1950. My daughter is so sweet, just pick what you want to take she said.
Ha! Ha! Easy peasy lemon breezy NOT! šŸ˜‰

  1. LOL-I found for me Its a combination of both hoarding and sentiments, please never wanting to let things go of things sometimes. I participated in a DeClutter challenge this past June and I yes as irony would have it I moved to NC with all those things in totes. Iā€™ve been living in NC for 8 years now and it amazed me to officially sit down with every piece in the closest of totes and find that I had papers in them I had written in Middles school, plus things that should never be parted with. It was a very hard challenge to kiss many things goodbye as I conducted a burning ceremony for everything I decided to get rid off that wouldnā€™t be sold, or donated. It also amazed me that I clean houses for many women who are retired and I was good at helping them and pushing them to release things that I myself hadnā€™t let go.

I realized had I not cleaned and participated in that Challenge, I too in 20 years would be like the women I clean for, including one of my most challenging clients where I spent 16 days cleaning two rooms in her house because she literally had everything she had gathered in her home since 1950. I never made it past her bathroom, only the living room and kitchen, and bathroom could be accomplished in those 16 days. She had 4 rooms remaining that i just couldnā€™t do at that time.

When my grandmother past she had many things saved as well, including my mother and her siblings kindergarten report cards. During the challenge we were forced to examine things like why do we have junk drawers, saving almost everything we get our hands on for one reason or another.

Happy Sunday, enjoy your sentiments and most importantly enjoy your move to NC, may it be as freeing for you as it has been for me and several other out of towners I have met during my 8 year journey here. I hope it grants the sense of wonder and peace most of us have found here, not blind or in denial to its problem, just moving here from the rush and bust of the city, NC has offered many of us that I have talked to a fresh perspective of much and not sure how that happen for each of us, but we know its because of the move here.

If you have not read it already check out the book ā€œAmazing Places, What NC Means to Writersā€ as Irony would have it I placed an article from our local paper ,The Daily Dispatch, on my vision board as I shared very similar sentiments with the writers views that were shared in the article. I had the privilege of meeting the author in person while catering an event that honored her for this work, and she sent me a free copy.

  2. I understand exactly what you mean. My task is nowhere near as huge as yours . I have been sorting through 60 years of photographs, putting them in chronological order. So far I’m two boxes of tissues down.
